This year was a bit different Thanksgiving celebration. Instead of the traditional turkey dinner, I went the fish route.
First it was at a restaurant in Lake Charles, LA. The pain of spending all day cooking, doing dishes, and storing a massive amounts of leftovers makes the restaurant such a nice alternative tradition forward. Also, being in Lake Charles, there is plenty of gaming to fill the time saved by not cooking, etc (and some nice fishing spots).
The weather was fantastic and near 80 all of the days, I just decided to forego the fishing this time in lieu of eating it for Thanksgiving dinner and trying a my luck playing fishing related slots in the casino. I ate some very nice redfish and grouper for my dinner and gave some thanks for not losing my shirt in the casino. I broke even on the fishing related games and then lost some and won some otherwise on the other offerings.
Overall, it was an excellent time with good food, and I would definitely make it a yearly routine. It’s not for everyone for sure; however, it does fit my family profile!
